Datahouse Diaries: Erica Évora

30 May 25

In this edition of Datahouse Diaries, we welcome one of Lisbon office’s newest team members, who brings fresh energy, curiosity, and a love for clean code and good food!

With a background in Computer Engineering and a passion for building meaningful solutions, Erica shares her first impressions of Datahouse, what excites her most about her role, and how she balances her professional ambitions with simple joys like gaming, travel, and counting to ten in seven different languages.

Why Datahouse?

What drew her to Datahouse wasn’t just the tech, it was the company’s mindset:

But it’s not just about the tools: She’s found fulfillment in working on Wüest Dimensions, a large modular platform supporting the real estate industry across its full value chain.

“Building integrated, scalable solutions that help clients make strategic portfolio decisions is incredibly fulfilling. And being part of a team that values knowledge sharing and continuous improvement makes each win even more meaningful.”

Settling into the Lisbon Team

Starting a new job is always a leap, but she found a soft landing with the Lisbon team:

“Everyone was so welcoming and supportive from day one. The team spirit here is amazing: it really helped me feel comfortable, ask questions, and get settled in quickly.”

Everyday Energy: A Collaborative Culture

What keeps her motivated day to day?

“It’s the people. Every day I get to work with talented, supportive colleagues who are open to new ideas. The variety of work keeps me learning and engaged, and open communication makes it easy to stay energized.”

From Surfboards to Sushi: Hobbies and Aspirations

While she wouldn’t call herself an adrenaline junkie, she enjoys trying new things from surfing to language quirks:

“I can count to 10 in at least 7 different languages! It’s not useful, but it’s fun.”

Her bigger aspiration? Returning to Japan to fully immerse herself in the culture and cuisine.

“Cooking is one of my favorite ways to connect with other cultures, and Japan has so much to offer. I’d love to go back and learn to cook authentic dishes.”

A Career Built on Code and Curiosity

With a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from ISCTE in Lisbon, her path into software development was clear from the start.

“I always knew I wanted to work in tech, and this program was a perfect fit.”

Her technical foundation now supports her work on one of Datahouse’s most impactful platforms.

Balance is Key

When it comes to recharging, she enjoys a bit of everything:

“I like a mix: exploring new places, connecting with family, and discovering hidden gems with friends. A balanced break is the best kind.”

A Perfect 48 Hours in Lisbon

If a teammate from Zurich came to visit, she’d make sure they got a true taste of Lisbon:

Day 1:
Start with a pastel de nata, stroll from Parque Eduardo VII down Avenida da Liberdade to Baixa, and catch the sunset at Miradouro da Senhora do Monte or Adamastor. At night? Bairro Alto, of course.

Day 2:
A day trip to Sintra where you will experience castles, palaces, forests, and fairytale vibes. Top it all off with Portuguese classics like francesinha, bacalhau com natas, and cozido à portuguesa.

First Lessons at Datahouse

Even early in her journey, one insight stood out:

“I was surprised by how well-structured and efficient everything is. Projects are organized, communication flows well. It made onboarding so much smoother and gave me confidence right away.”

Final Thoughts

From starting fresh in a new company to contributing to a complex, high-impact platform, her story reflects the value of curiosity, collaboration, and continuous learning. Whether it’s diving into code, exploring new cultures through food, or simply sharing laughs with the team, her approach is rooted in openness and growth.
