Not every journey is linear. Some take the shape of soundwaves, coastlines, or clean lines of code. For Carlos, it\u2019s all three.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Act I: Tuned In From the Start<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Before writing software, Carlos was already building systems, just not always with a keyboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Originally from Brazil, he studied electronic engineering with a focus on hardware. But somewhere between circuits and code, he found himself gravitating toward the problem-solving and communication aspects of software engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Programming was always part of the picture, so following the software engineering path felt like a very natural step.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It wasn\u2019t just the tools or the tasks that pulled him in, though. It was the challenge of translation: turning technical complexity into something human, clear, and usable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I\u2019ve always been motivated by the idea of making complex things understandable for non-developers.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Act II: New City, New Soundtrack<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Carlos has called Portugal home for the past two years. In September 2024, he joined Datahouse and travelled to Zurich in his first week on the job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It wasn\u2019t just onboarding. It was an immersion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Even in my first week in Zurich, I managed to build solid connections not only with colleagues there but also with the team in Lisbon.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

That early momentum gave him confidence and a sense of belonging. And while some people take months to settle in, Carlos had something working in his favour: rhythm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whether he\u2019s running, skating, lifting, or coding, music is always in the background. He plays guitar and bass, and he\u2019s slowly building a home studio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Even my sports hobbies usually have a music element.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Act III: Movement, Meaning, and Minhota<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Carlos doesn\u2019t do idle. He\u2019s a relentless explorer, whether it\u2019s on holiday or in a codebase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“To be honest, I don\u2019t relax at all on vacation. I exaggerate on the exploring part, almost like it\u2019s a sport.\u00bb<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Datahouse, he found a workplace that echoes that energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I was motivated by the opportunity to work with modern technologies. The real estate domain also caught my interest, especially because it involves dealing with data and requires a lot of smart computational solutions.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also found something else he didn\u2019t expect: cross-border collaboration that felt easy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I\u2019ve learned how much the company values cross-location collaboration.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

So what happens when colleagues visit Lisbon? For Carlos, it\u2019s all about balance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I\u2019d take them to Alto Minho restaurant to try Bacalhau \u00e0 Minhota. After that, Miradouro da Gra\u00e7a, because Lisbon is best appreciated with good food and a good view.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Encore: The Bigger Picture<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Small wins shape big trajectories. For Carlos, it wasn\u2019t a technical milestone that defined his early days at Datahouse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Definitely establishing those initial strong relationships with teammates in different offices. It gave me a sense of belonging very quickly.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

That, and his ability to bridge the gap between code and conversation, means his story is just getting started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
