Price comparison supplementary health insurance

Using web crawling, we collect the structure of supplementary health insurances premiums of the most important Swiss health insurers. With this data, we enable insurance companies to perform a detailed competitor analysis. The data is updated once a year in autumn.

Data collection

The data are retrieved directly from the websites of the health insurers by means of web crawling. For the typical input parameters such as location, age and gender of the insured person, we iterate over all relevant values to obtain the most comprehensive data set possible. For most companies, this results in about 50’000 configurations and prices.

Data processing

Discounts and special conditions are excluded as far as possible in order to represent isolated product prices. All data is transformed into a uniform structure to simplify analyses between the companies. Specific detailed information on selected configurations is listed separately.

Visualisation

The processed data is available online in a modern BI dashboard (Apache Superset) where you can analyse the premium structure of the different insurance companies and their products in detail or download the desired raw data for further analyses.
